There are various sides of one story, various branches of one tree and various outlets of one brand. Similar is the case with the field of medicine. The field of medicine is categorized into various divisions depending upon the type of body part or organ system. Human body is a quite complicated structure and is divided into various parts so to make it somewhat easier to understand it. There are about eleven organ systems which are composed of multiple numbers of body parts, blood vessels, neurons, etc. One such branch of medicine is dentistry which is further divided into various branches like an old tree which has millions of branches evolving from one another. Dentistry is that branch of medicine which is related to the oral structure of human beings that include gums, jaws and teeth. The medical professional who handles the oral procedures is known as a dentist. In this article, we will be discussing about some branches of dentistry among which one is cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic dentistry:

Whenever we hear the word dentistry, we readily think about tooth aches, bleeding gums and cavity eradications. There are various procedures like root canal treatment, tooth extraction, crowning and filling in which tooth aches are treated. However, dentistry is much more than the mere treatment of tooth aches. There is a branch of dentistry which is known as cosmetic dentistry in which the appearance of the teeth and jaws are concerned. A beautiful smile is actually a confident smile which comes only when you are confident about the alignment of your teeth, about the whitening of your teeth. There are various procedures which are adapted to whiten the teeth like tooth bleaching, zoom whitening and regular whitening. Besides that, teeth alignment also comes under the category of cosmetic dentistry.

Besides cosmetic dentistry, there are other branches of dentistry as well like there is the kind of dentistry in which the injuries of soft tissues of the tooth are treated; this branch is known as endodontic. Then there is a kind in which the infections or diseases of teeth and jaws are treated and is known as orthodontic. Oral surgery, periodontal is some other such branches of dentistry. So, dentistry covers all portions of teeth, gums and jaws by being categorized into various branches.
